Hello, friends. Now in my 7th decade, I'm starting over.
What the heck does that mean, Steve?
As far back as I can remember, I have been an intense observer of life on planet earth. I spent much of my youth running free in the countryside when I wasn't in school.
I was bullied, which meant I withdrew a bit and worked on my own projects. In fact, when I went to the county school board many years later and asked to see my permanent record card, the thing that stood out to me was, "Steve works well on his own projects." And that's been the theme of my life.
I have been in business for myself most of my adult life.
One of my best subjects in high school and college was psychology, and people-watching has always been an avocation. Which led to my career in portrait photography.
Growing up watching nature led to my fine art photography. These are the only ways many of you know me.
Some of you also know me from seeing our band The Soul Doctors perform for the last 20 years.
I began writing songs in the nineties and wanted to move to Nashville to do it full-time, but that never happened. No worries. It was my choice to stop writing. Though I did stop writing them down, the muse never left me, and I always had something going on in my head.
I retired from accepting photography assignments at the end of 2019.
Our band was doing well, and I looked forward to more music and songwriting. Then the pandemic hit.
I decided to use it to my advantage and take the time off from everything else to study music and songwriting. I have studied music theory, guitar, piano, and recording techniques. I have come a long way, and it's time to take these new skills and combine them with my other loves and see where it goes.
Finally, I have always been following a spiritual path, seeking truth, encouraging others, and wishing that I could share more of that. Now I have a place.
This new site hopes to take you along for the ride and encourage you to seek what you really want in life no matter what anyone else says or thinks. (everyone said I should play it safe and get a regular job)
We all have gifts to share and today is a great day to start!
Best and Peace to you,
Steve
